Portal cranes in ice

In January 2021 m.v. Happy Diamond loaded 3 portal tower cranes at the Cosco Heavy Industry Haimen terminal at Nantong, China.

The cranes weighed 553 mt per piece and were built for the Russian shipbuilding complex “Zvezda”, in Bolshoy Kamen, Russia. This is the largest shipyard specialized in shipbuilding for the construction of Russian offshore facilities. “Zvezda” builds Arctic class drilling rigs for year-round work in the Arctic, but also, for instance, commercial Aframax and Suezmax tankers, which operate on gas. The new cranes are part of the technological equipment of hydraulic structures and will be used for installation, outfitting and delivery works on the vessels of the production programme of Shipbuilding Complex “Zvezda”.

Two portal cranes of this tower type, with a luffing jib with a lifting capacity of 50/10 mt, will be installed in the deep-water jetty. The third tower type portal crane, with a straight fixed jib with a lifting capacity of 70 mt, will be positioned at the outfitting quay No.1 at “Zvezda” yard at Bolshoy Kamen.
