BigLift expands fleet with two Heavy Transport Vessels
Earlier this year, in April, BigLift Shipping, in partnership with CY Shipping, announced the expansion of its fleet with the addition of two new Heavy Transport Vessels (HTVs). This strategic move increases the combined fleet to six vessels, enhancing our capacity to meet the growing demands of the heavy transport market. The new vessels, part of the innovative BC-Class, are designed to transport ultra-large and heavy modular cargoes worldwide. These vessels are scheduled for delivery in Q4 2025 and Q2 2026 respectively, with the first vessel, CY Frontier, owned by CY Shipping and the second, Happy Pioneer, by BigLift Shipping. The newbuilding contracts have been signed with Jing Jiang Nanyang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, China.
Key Features of the BC-Class Vessels
The BC-Class vessels are designed for optimal performance, featuring reliable service speed, low accelerations, and optimized loading and discharge times. They are interchangeable with BigLift’s MC-Class vessels, BigLift Barentsz and BigLift Baffin, providing even more deck length and stern loading capability. Since 2019, BigLift Shipping and CY Shipping have combined their Heavy Transport Shipping capabilities. The current fleet, comprising four HTVs, is commercially fully operated by BigLift Shipping. We are very proud and excited to further strengthen this partnership. CY Shipping and BigLift Shipping share many of the same values, and we are pleased to embark on this newbuilding program together.
As a modern company, we understand the importance of staying ahead of market requirements, making a difference, and adding value to our customers’ needs. The addition of the BC-Class vessels will enable us to offer even more unique transport services, allowing participation in long-term contracts and single voyages worldwide.
