Dear Reader,
We are happy to present the latest edition of our company magazine, BigNews. As we sail through 2024, various interesting achievements deserve highlighting, and we are glad to present you with some eye-catching projects.
In this issue, you can read that landing a buoy in the ocean requires much more than just a heavy lift vessel. Furthermore, the transportation of port cranes has become an important trade for BigLift Shipping. For instance, the Heavy Transport Vessel CY Interocean I carried STS cranes and RTGS from the UAE to Gabon, some of many more that have been and will be transported across the globe.
Another feature in port equipment are ship (un)loaders. They always require great attention to detail, but it is very satisfactory to see quite a complicated lift being successfully rounded off in the delivery of the (un)loader in its designated port. In this issue, we have taken an existing unloader from its quay back to the “workshop” where it will be refurbished.
Fleet-wise, our fleet will expand with one vessel. The case is such: we have said goodbye to our Grand Old Lady Happy Buccaneer, which was beached in Turkey to be dismantled after 40 years of service in many excellent and eye-catching projects. She was well ahead of her time when built and was still functioning in the top echelons of the heavy lift market. She will be missed.
On the other hand, fleet-wise, together with our partner CY Shipping two Heavy Transport Vessels are being built which will join our fleet end next year and early 2026, thereby expanding our capabilities in the transportation of ultra-large and heavy modular cargoes worldwide.
In this issue you will also be introduced to our people in Genoa, the Gozzis of HB shipping, who have been working with us for well over 20 years. Another highlight we like to share with you are the five voyages to Salina Cruz, a port which we did not know before, but now holds little BigLift secrets.
We hope you enjoy reading this issue as much as we enjoyed putting it together for you.
