Dear Reader,

Welcome to the first edition of BigNews for 2026. This year has begun as a dynamic one for our industry and for BigLift Shipping B.V., marked by a mix of optimism and uncertainty. The sudden closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the suspension of trade with the PG took everyone by surprise. No one can predict when safe passage in and out of the PG will resume, and the Red Sea/Suez route appears likely to remain inaccessible for most carriers for the foreseeable future.

These developments affect us all - both personally and professionally - in one way or another. One significant consequence for our sector has been the sharp rise in bunker prices. Even if this increase proves temporary, it is already influencing decision-making across the industry today.

In this issue of BigNews, we’re proud to highlight projects that showcase the scale, complexity, and innovation behind our operations. From establishing Broome’s new Marine Support Base and delivering four harbour cranes to Italy, to components for the LNG bunker vessel Green Pearl, each story reflects the expertise and dedication of our teams.

We also shine a spotlight on our Korean partner, CY Maritime, where father and son together share insights into the strong relationship and unique partnership we have built together.

Furthermore, we recently announced the expansion of our fleet. As BigLift continues to grow, our projects reaffirm our commitment to excellence in engineered transport.

I look forward to working together to reach our goals, and create stronger partnerships and continued growth of our industry.

Enjoy reading our first edition of BigNews in 2026.

Warm regards,

Johan Boer, Managing Director
